Betty Abrams

Betty (B.J.) Abrams, AKA-SamBa'Rella' is an Arkansas native, primitive & university trained artist. African American Female, Ageless, Oil is my preferred medium, but I create in acrylic, water, mixed media, wood, jewels and collage as it takes my fancy. My current greatest acheivement is to have three original paintings in the President Bill Clinton Libary Collection, Clinton Blvd., Little Rock, Arkansas from June 16th, 2007 to August 18th, 2007, placed there by the Clinton-Thea Foundations.
Painting is my natural, God given talent that I've allowed to blossom and expand at it's own pace. Over three decades I have taken private lessons with notable artists in Carmel California, Chicago, Tucson, NY and studied under Dr. Jeff Young at the University of Central AR at Conway, AR.
A two decade mentor has been Gene Hatfield who was the first AR artist honored by his work being selected as part of the Smithsonian Institute's permanent collection. We continue to collaborate.
2008 Arkansas Arts Center Competition, 'Small Works on Paper,' selected my painting 'ODE TO MARIO' to travel Arkansas during 2008 with the show. 2009 Invited to show in Dubai, but I broke my foot, therefore I missed the show, but the invitation is still open so I will go someday soon.
2010 www.arartsbs.org was added to the United States Chamber of Commerce website for International recognition.
2011 The heat wave has slowed all my progress. Due to the triple digit heat I've stayed in and new paintings will be uploaded as completed.
